Pet Gun Dog Skills — Full Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to Pet Gun Dog Skills training provided by Kay 9 Training.

Please read these Terms & Conditions before booking. By booking a Pet Gun Dog Skills session or programme, you confirm that you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions and agree to be bound by them.

1. Pet Gun Dog Skills

Pet Gun Dog Skills is a 1-to-1 training service designed to provide pet dogs with a positive outlet for their natural instincts and develop skills including focus, self-control, recall, confidence and retrieving.

The training is suitable for pet dogs who enjoy learning, retrieving, searching, carrying and working with their handler.

Pet Gun Dog Skills is not intended to replace veterinary advice, behavioural treatment or specialist veterinary or clinical behaviour services where these are required.

2. Booking and Payment

Pet Gun Dog Skills sessions are provided on a one-to-one basis, primarily as home visits or at another agreed training location.

Your booking is confirmed once the required booking information has been completed and payment has been received.

The Foundations Programme consists of:

4 × 1-to-1 sessions — £180

Payment is required in accordance with the booking arrangements provided at the time of booking.

All prices are stated in pounds sterling (£).

3. The Foundations Programme

The programme is designed to provide a starting point for developing your dog's skills.

Each dog learns at a different pace, so sessions may be adapted according to the individual dog's ability, behaviour, confidence and progress.

Completion of the four sessions does not guarantee that a dog will have achieved a particular level of training or reliability.

4. Further Training

Once the Foundations Programme has been completed, clients may choose to continue with further 1-to-1 Pet Gun Dog Skills sessions.

Further training will be discussed and agreed based on the dog's individual needs and progress.

5. Information About Your Dog

When booking, you must provide accurate and relevant information about your dog.

It is important that you provide complete and accurate information so that training can be planned appropriately.

Please also inform Kay 9 Training of any significant changes to your dog's health or behaviour before a session.

6. Health and Wellbeing

Please do not attend or participate in a training session if your dog is unwell or may have a contagious illness.

If your dog becomes unwell before a session, please contact Kay 9 Training as soon as possible.

You are responsible for following appropriate veterinary advice regarding your dog's health, fitness and suitability for training.

Kay 9 Training does not provide veterinary advice or veterinary treatment.

If a health or welfare concern becomes apparent during a session, training may be stopped or modified and you may be advised to seek veterinary advice where appropriate.

7. Behaviour and Safety

Dog behaviour can be unpredictable, and safety is a priority during all training sessions.

You must inform Kay 9 Training before training if your dog has shown behaviour that could present a safety concern, including:

  • Aggression

  • Biting or attempted biting

  • Significant fear or anxiety

  • Guarding behaviour

  • Escape behaviour

  • Aggression towards people or other animals

Training may be adapted, paused or ended if Kay 9 Training considers that continuing would create an unacceptable safety risk to the dog, handler, trainer or any other person or animal.

No training technique can guarantee that a dog will never display unwanted or unexpected behaviour.

8. Client Responsibility

You remain responsible for your dog throughout the training session unless otherwise specifically agreed.

You are responsible for following reasonable instructions provided by Kay 9 Training relating to the handling, management and safety of your dog.

You must use appropriate equipment and ensure your dog is safely secured where required.

Your dog should only be allowed off lead where this has been discussed and agreed and the environment is considered appropriate.

You are responsible for ensuring that any equipment you provide is safe and suitable for your dog.

9. Home Visits

Pet Gun Dog Skills sessions are primarily provided as home visits.

You are responsible for ensuring that the home, garden and any other area used for training is reasonably safe and suitable.

Please inform Kay 9 Training before the session about:

  • Other dogs or animals at the property

  • Potential hazards

  • Restricted access

  • Gates or fencing that may not be secure

  • Any other circumstances that could affect the safety of the session

Where appropriate, training may take place in a nearby outdoor area or another agreed location.

10. Other Dogs, Animals and People

Depending on the training exercise and location, other dogs, animals or people may be present in the surrounding environment.

Your dog should be appropriately managed and secured where necessary.

You should not allow your dog to approach another dog, person or animal during training unless this has been discussed and is appropriate for the exercise. Kay 9 Training may change or adapt an exercise if the surrounding environment creates a safety concern.

11. Children

Children may be present during home visits but must remain under the supervision of a responsible adult.

Children should not be responsible for handling the dog during training unless specifically agreed and considered appropriate.

Any person participating in training must follow reasonable safety instructions.

12. Training Approach

The aim is to build understanding, communication, confidence and cooperation between dog and handler while providing appropriate outlets for natural behaviours. Training will be adapted to the individual dog.

Every dog is different, and progress can be affected by factors including age, experience, environment, motivation, health and previous learning.

For this reason, Kay 9 Training cannot guarantee a particular behavioural or training outcome or a specific timescale for achieving a particular result.

13. Cancellation and Rescheduling

As sessions are booked specifically for you and your dog, at least 7 days' notice is required if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Our standard cancellation policy is:

7 days or more before your session. You may request a refund or rearrangement, subject to any applicable statutory rights and the terms of your booking.

Less than 7 days before your session. The session is normally non-refundable.

Missed appointments. Sessions missed without notice are normally non-refundable.

Exceptional circumstances will be considered at the discretion of Kay 9 Training.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any statutory cancellation or consumer rights that may apply to you.

14. Cancellation Due to Illness

If your dog is unwell or has a contagious illness, please contact Kay 9 Training as soon as possible rather than attending the session.

Where circumstances allow, we may offer an alternative appointment.

Any rearrangement or refund will be considered in accordance with the cancellation policy and applicable statutory rights.

15. Weather and Outdoor Conditions

Some Pet Gun Dog Skills exercises may take place outdoors.

Sessions may need to be changed, shortened or rearranged due to:

  • Severe weather

  • Unsafe ground conditions

  • Extreme temperatures

  • Flooding or other environmental conditions

  • Other circumstances that make training unsuitable or unsafe

Where Kay 9 Training needs to cancel or rearrange a session, as much notice as reasonably possible will be provided and an alternative arrangement will be offered where appropriate.

16. Cancellation by Kay 9 Training

Kay 9 Training reserves the right to cancel or rearrange a session where necessary due to illness, emergency, severe weather, unsafe conditions or other circumstances outside reasonable control.

Where a session is cancelled by Kay 9 Training, an alternative appointment will be offered where possible.

If an alternative cannot be agreed, any refund due will be dealt with in accordance with applicable statutory rights.

17. Photography and Video

Photographs or videos may occasionally be taken during training sessions.

Kay 9 Training will ask for your permission before using identifiable photographs or videos of you or your dog for promotional purposes.

You are free to decline permission and this will not affect your training.

Where permission has been given, you may contact Kay 9 Training if you subsequently wish to discuss the use of an image or video.

18. Personal Information

Information provided when booking or during training will be used to:

  • Arrange and provide your training

  • Communicate with you about appointments

  • Maintain appropriate training records

  • Manage bookings and payments

  • Provide relevant follow-up information

Your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Kay 9 Training Privacy Notice.

19. Liability

Kay 9 Training will take reasonable steps to provide safe and appropriate training.

However, dogs are animals and their behaviour can be unpredictable. Training cannot remove all risk of unexpected behaviour, injury or damage.

You remain responsible for your dog and their actions throughout the session.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

20. No Guarantee of Results

Pet Gun Dog Skills training is designed to help you and your dog develop skills through structured, positive training.

However, individual results will vary.

Factors such as the dog's age, breed, previous experiences, health, environment, consistency of practice and handler involvement can all affect progress. Kay 9 Training therefore does not guarantee a particular result, level of reliability or timescale.

21. Practising Between Sessions

Clients may be given exercises or recommendations to practise between sessions.

Regular, appropriate practice can help reinforce skills and support progress.

You are responsible for deciding when and where exercises are appropriate to practise and should follow any safety guidance provided.

If you are unsure about an exercise, please contact Kay 9 Training before continuing.

22. Changes to These Terms

Kay 9 Training may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The Terms & Conditions applicable to your booking will normally be the version available at the time of booking, unless an update is required by law or relates to an ongoing service.

The latest version will be made available on the Kay 9 Training website.

23. Acceptance of These Terms

By booking a Pet Gun Dog Skills session or programme with Kay 9 Training, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms & Conditions.

  • The information you have provided about your dog is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
